We have received feedback from people that they would like to form some sort of social group under the auspices of Pozhets, where we can all get together on a semi-regular basis.
For example, some have mentioned the regular ‘first Friday of every month’ get-togethers that we used to have at the Tree of Hope, that included a themed dinner and film night.
This is your social group, so we would welcome feedback on how you would like it to work, what your interests are, what you would like to see the group accomplish. If you have any ideas on things that should/should not be included, please do let us know. As it is just in the initial setting up stage, we really want to canvas everyone’s views on how they think this would work, and more importantly what you personally would like to see in, or get from the social group.
We would really love to hear from you and will collate all the responses over the Christmas/New Year period so that we can start to organise something that we all want.
Please either post your responses or ideas about the Social Club to the Pozhets website under the ‘Social Committee’ section.
To do this you will need to register as a forum member at http://www.pozhet.org.au/pozhetforum/
and then email Susan with your forum username to let her know you are interested. She will then enable you to participate in Social Club discussions and be a member of the Social Club
OR Send your responses to Susan at pozhet@pozhet.org or susan.mcguckin@sswahs.nsw.gov.au
or post to

We want to create a safe and supportive group for people living with HIV, with an atmosphere of mutual respect.
Have a very happy and peaceful holiday season, and we look forward to catching up in the New Year.
Hi Everyone!
I’m the new Health Education Officer with Pozhet and will be here 3 days per week (usually Tues, Wed, Thurs).
Some of you may remember I worked for Pozhet a few years ago and left when I moved to country NSW (Lismore). I’m back in Sydney now and very happy to be here.
Over the years I’ve worked for ACON and ASHM, NAPWA and Positive Life in Health Promotion, and been involved in HIV services for the last 15 years. I’ve also worked in education, care and support with people with physical and intellectual disabilities, in aged care, women’s health, drug health, and been an English teacher to international students. I’m interested in health from a whole-person perspective – body, mind, emotions, psyche, spirit.
I will be working on the Pozhet Annual Workshop coming up in November, Pozhet’s contribution to World AIDS Day, a new resource about Serodiscordance (pos-neg relationships) as well as educating other HIV organisations about heterosexual issues, client support and anything else I can get my hands on!
I attended the Pozhet/ACON Women’s Day last Saturday and it was a great experience to talk with a large group of amazing women about health, sexuality, treatments, disclosure and other interesting topics.
I look forward to meeting you at one of our events soon, and am always be happy to talk on the phone (freecall 1800 812 404) or you can email me at pozhet@pozhet.org.au
